If you have a pacemaker you should not wear the Classic GPS Alarm around your neck. This is because a mobile device should not be placed near a pacemaker. Instead the pendant can be used as a key fob or placed in a pocket or bag. The pendant must be kept at a minimum distance of 25cm / 9.8 inches from your pacemaker at all times. If you have any questions or concerns, we're happy to help. If you have any questions or concerns, call 0800 085 8032, Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm, to speak to a Taking Care advisor.
Yes. Unlike the Classic Personal Alarm, Classic Fall Alarm or Taking Care Anywhere packages, you are buying the Classic GPS Personal Alarm. The subscription is for the 24-hour monitoring. If the Classic GPS Personal Alarm is lost or damaged, you would need to order a replacement to continue benefiting from the 24 hour monitored alarm service.
Your order includes the alarm pendant, drop-in charging unit and power cable. Also included is an easy-to-follow user guide that shows you how to use your personal alarm. Next working day delivery is included free of charge. A 12 month warranty is also included.
The subscription includes 24-hour monitoring by the Emergency Resolution team. The subscription can be set up by monthly or annual Direct Debit.
The pendant can worn around your neck, as a key fob or placed in a pocket or bag.
No, this personal alarm does not detect falls. If you would like a GPS alarm with fall detection, please consider the Taking Care Anywhere.
The Classic GPS Personal Alarm will work anywhere in the UK, excluding the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, where there is a 2G cellular network to communicate with, subject to atmospheric conditions, buildings, or other forms of interference that can block the pendant's connection to GPS satellites. The multi-network SIM will connect to any available mobile network.
Some people find it reassuring to set up geographic boundaries that trigger an alert to loved ones if the Classic GPS Personal Alarm pendant moves outside of these pre-set locations. Taking Care can set this up for you at no extra charge if you contact Customer Services once you have received your order.
No, the pendant is not water resistant so should not be worn in the bath or shower. If you would like a GPS pendant that can be worn in the bath or shower, the Taking Care Anywhere is water resistant and includes fall detection.
The pendant is 60mm / 2.4 inches tall by 44mm / 1.7 inches wide (at the widest point) and 14mm / 0.5 inches deep. It weighs just 40 grams so it is small and lightweight enough to be carried in a pocket, on a key fob or worn around the neck.
If you choose to give them access, your loved ones can log on to a secure website to view the current GPS device location and location history. They can access the website using a computer, tablet or mobile phone. You are in control of whether others can log on to view the GPS device location. If you would like to set this up, Taking Care will be happy to arrange this for you.
Taking Care's Emergency Resolution team can view the GPS location and use this information to direct the appropriate help to you quickly.
The Classic GPS Personal Alarm is ready to use out of the box. The SIM card is pre-fitted and the user guide shows you how to make a test call to ensure your alarm is working.
If you are also ordering a key safe and would like someone to fit it, you can add the installation service to your order. One of the Taking Care team will fit your key safe and show you how your key safe and personal alarm work.
If you have any problems, Taking Care's Customer Service team are happy to help. Call 0800 085 8032, 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
The set-up cost includes setting up your account with Taking Care, registering you as a customer and purchase of the Classic GPS Personal Alarm.
