Do I need to pay VAT on my personal alarm order?

Many people don't realise they may be VAT exempt when it comes to ordering a personal alarm. In fact, 92% of Age Co Personal Alarm customers do not need to pay VAT on their orders*.

If you, or the person you are buying the alarm for, have a condition that requires regular medication, are chronically sick or are registered disabled then you may qualify for VAT exemption.

 

How do I know if I'm VAT exempt?

For the purposes of the VAT relief, you are chronically sick or disabled if:

  • You have a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon your ability to carry out everyday activities.
  • You have a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes.
  • You have a terminal illness.

How do I order if I'm VAT exempt?

When you order your Age Co Personal Alarm online, select the VAT exemption option when you add the product to your basket.

As you check out, you will be asked to describe why you are eligible for VAT exemption. Provide a short summary and proceed to payment.

If you are ordering by telephone, the Taking Care Sales team will check whether you qualify for VAT exemption during the call.
