Age Co Personal Alarm Watch Product FAQs

Do I own the Personal Alarm Watch?

Yes. Unlike the rented Digital Personal Alarm, Digital Fall Alarm or Taking Care Anywhere packages, you are buying the Personal Alarm Watch outright. The subscription includes our 24-hour personal alarm service, monitored by Taking Care's Emergency Resolution team. If the Personal Alarm Watch develops a fault outside of the 12 month warranty, you would need to order a replacement to continue benefiting from the monitored alarm service.

What is included with my order?

Your order includes the Personal Alarm Watch, charging cable and plug. Also included is an easy-to-follow user guide that shows you how to use the Personal Alarm Watch. Delivery is included free of charge. A 12-month warranty is also included.

What is included with the subscription?

The subscription includes our 24-hour personal alarm service, monitored by Taking Care's Emergency Resolution team. The subscription can be set up by monthly or annual Direct Debit.

Does the Personal Alarm Watch detect falls?

No, this personal alarm does not detect falls. If you would like a GPS alarm with fall detection, please consider the Taking Care Anywhere.

Does the Personal Alarm Watch work anywhere?

The Personal Alarm Watch uses 2G mobile networks and will work anywhere in the UK where there is a 2G mobile network, except the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. As it requires a network signal to communicate, it can be affected by atmospheric conditions, buildings and other forms of interference that block the pendant's connection to GPS satellites.

How do the safe zones work?

Some people find it reassuring to set up geographic boundaries that trigger an alert to loved ones if the Personal Alarm Watch moves outside of pre-set safe zone locations. Taking Care can set these up for you at no extra charge if you contact Customer Services once you have received your order.

Can I wear the Personal Alarm Watch in the bath or shower?

No, the watch is not water resistant so should not be worn in the bath or shower. If you would like a GPS pendant that can be worn in the bath or shower, the Taking Care Anywhere is water resistant and includes fall detection.

How can loved ones view the GPS location of the Personal Alarm Watch?

If you choose to give them access, your loved ones can log on to a secure website to view the current GPS device location and location history. They can access the website using a computer, tablet or mobile phone. You are in control of whether others can log on to view the GPS device location. If you would like to set this up, Taking Care will be happy to arrange this for you free of charge.

Who else can view the GPS location of the Personal Alarm Watch?

Taking Care's Emergency Resolution team can view the GPS location and use this information to direct the appropriate help to you quickly.

How do I make an emergency alarm call?

To call Taking Care’s Emergency Resolution team, press the SOS button on the front of the Personal Alarm Watch. The multi-network SIM automatically connects to the strongest mobile network available and calls the Emergency Resolution Team who will speak to you through the built-in speaker and microphone.

How often does the Personal Alarm Watch update its GPS coordinates?

It updates its GPS coordinates every 5 minutes so Taking Care’s Emergency Resolution Team can accurately identify the location of the device.

What does the set-up cost include?

The set-up cost includes setting up your account with Taking Care, registering you as a customer and purchase of the Personal Alarm Watch.

I have a pacemaker. Can I still use the Personal Alarm Watch?

Yes, you can use the Personal Alarm Watch if you have a pacemaker fitted.

Is the delivery, warranty and repair service free of charge?

How do I provide you with the details of my emergency contacts?

If you order online or by telephone and provide an email address, you will receive an order confirmation email with a link to an online account setup form. If you do not have an email address, you can complete and return the form included in your welcome pack with your personal alarm.

Please complete either form so that Taking Care has the following details available in case an emergency alarm call is made:
