No, this personal alarm does not detect falls. If you would like a GPS alarm with fall detection, please consider the Taking Care Anywhere.
The Personal Alarm Watch uses 2G mobile networks and will work anywhere in the UK where there is a 2G mobile network, except the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. As it requires a network signal to communicate, it can be affected by atmospheric conditions, buildings and other forms of interference that block the pendant's connection to GPS satellites.
Some people find it reassuring to set up geographic boundaries that trigger an alert to loved ones if the Personal Alarm Watch moves outside of pre-set safe zone locations. Taking Care can set these up for you at no extra charge if you contact Customer Services once you have received your order.
No, the watch is not water resistant so should not be worn in the bath or shower. If you would like a GPS pendant that can be worn in the bath or shower, the Taking Care Anywhere is water resistant and includes fall detection.
If you choose to give them access, your loved ones can log on to a secure website to view the current GPS device location and location history. They can access the website using a computer, tablet or mobile phone. You are in control of whether others can log on to view the GPS device location. If you would like to set this up, Taking Care will be happy to arrange this for you free of charge.
Taking Care's Emergency Resolution team can view the GPS location and use this information to direct the appropriate help to you quickly.
To call Taking Care’s Emergency Resolution team, press the SOS button on the front of the Personal Alarm Watch. The multi-network SIM automatically connects to the strongest mobile network available and calls the Emergency Resolution Team who will speak to you through the built-in speaker and microphone.
It updates its GPS coordinates every 5 minutes so Taking Care’s Emergency Resolution Team can accurately identify the location of the device.
The set-up cost includes setting up your account with Taking Care, registering you as a customer and purchase of the Personal Alarm Watch.
