FAQs – Key Safes

Is a key safe required to use the Age Co Personal Alarm Service?

No, although it is recommended you have either two key holders or a key safe so in the case of an emergency there is always a way to get help to you. A key holder is someone who has keys to your home, lives within 30 minutes and can come to your assistance if needed.

How do I order a key safe?

Add a key safe when selecting your package options if you are ordering online. If you are ordering by telephone then just let Taking Care know when you call 0800 085 8032.

Do I have to use a key safe provided by Age Co Personal Alarms?

No, you do not. If you already have a key safe or buy one from elsewhere, please let Taking Care know the key safe code and location so they can get help to you in an emergency.

Where should a key safe be fitted?

It is recommend you choose a position that is out of easy sight from passers-by. It can only be fitted to an external wall, not an internal one, and the wall must be made of brick or concrete.

How do I fit the key safe?

Taking Care provide instructions with the key safe and you can watch this video to see how to fit the key safe.

If you need any assistance, please call the Customer Services team on 0800 085 8032.

What do I need to fit the key safe?

To fit the key safe yourself you will need: a power drill and 5mm drill bit suitable for masonry, T30 Torx screwdriver and a pencil to mark your holes for drilling.

Can the key safe be fitted to an internal wall?

A key safe can only be fitted to a brick built external wall, outhouse or garage.

What size is the key safe?

The approximate external measurements are:

Height: 149.35mm (5 7/8"),
Width: 81.03mm (3 3/16"),
Depth: 63.5mm (2 1/2").
The key safe weighs 1,710g.

What should I do if I change my key safe code?

If you change your key safe code then simply call 0800 085 8032 so Taking Care can update their records. Taking Care rely on this information being correct so they can arrange assistance for you if needed.

How secure is a key safe?

Taking Care supply the Supra C500 Pro KeySafe™, the original Police accredited key safe that can boast the title 'As secure as your front door'.

Who should I ask to be my key holders?

You should nominate friends, family or neighbours who live at a separate address, no more than a 30 minute drive from you. Ideally they should have a set of keys to your home, or failing that, the code to your key safe if you have one. They should have their own telephone so Taking Care can get hold of them whenever you need us to.

Who do I tell if my details change?

If you change your address, telephone number or there are changes to your medical conditions or key holders' contact information, please call 0800 085 8032 straight away. Taking Care rely on this information being correct so they can arrange assistance for you if you need it.
