Taking Care, the provider of the Age Co Personal Alarm Service, understands that changes like the landline digital switchover can cause concern. We want to reassure you that we've been working hard to ensure a smooth transition for Age Co Personal Alarm customers.
Taking Care is a trusted provider of telecare services, with over 100,000 customers across the UK. We are proud to be an Age Co partner, and a Which? Approved service, reflecting our commitment to quality and reliability.
If your personal alarm has a base unit that plugs into a telephone wall socket, then you have a landline alarm and your alarm will look like one of the following:
✅ No action needed right now: Your alarm will continue to provide you with 24/7 support. Taking Care will continue to closely monitor the situation as the switchover progresses.
Tested by Taking Care: We have tested our landline connected alarms for compatibility with the digital switchover changes. We are also closely monitoring the situation as the switchover progresses.
For total peace of mind, existing customers can upgrade to the latest digital alarm for a discounted price - ensuring you do not need to do anything in the future and your service will continue uninterrupted, providing you with 24/7 support.
If your personal alarm does not have a base unit that plugs into a telephone wall socket, then you have a digital alarm and your alarm will look like one of the following:
Your digital alarm is designed to work independently of the traditional phone network.
It uses a SIM card to communicate, meaning it's unaffected by the phone line switchover and any future network changes. Your service will continue uninterrupted, providing you with 24/7 support.
Your digital personal alarm is future proof and fully compatible with the digital switchover changes. You do not need to contact Taking Care or take any action.
Unfortunately, the digital switchover is creating an opportunity for criminals to exploit personal alarm customers by giving them false information about needing to purchase new equipment or asking for payments.
Neither Taking Care nor Age Co will call you and ask for payment or personal details to keep your personal alarm service running after the digital switchover.
You can protect yourself from scams by following these three steps:
Take a moment to stop and think before sharing personal information.
You should never feel rushed or pressured into making a decision.
If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam, report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040.
